This Month in Mafwa
Our New Website!
Over the past few months we have been working with Rhubarb Design House on a very exciting new project - a brand new website! This means you can find everything you you want to know about Mafwa Theatre in one place. Take a look around and let us know what you think!
Recipe Book Release 🍎🍛🍈
We have celebrated Cooking With Parveen by creating a cookbook! It is full of delicious meals from our Members and contains gorgeous illustrations by Julia Syrzistie. The cookbook is now available to buy on our website.
Socially-Distanced Photography
We have been working with Arts Together Leeds and the photographer Lizzie Coombes, taking socially-distanced portraits of Mafwa Members. This was a lovely opportunity to reconnect with our Members after a period of separation and feature them in Lizzie's photos. The final images will be displayed on the Arts Together Leeds website.
Upcoming
Online Theatre Workshops 🎭
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded £24,344 from the TNL Community Fund! Part of this funding will go towards our weekly drama workshops for women from refugee, asylum seeker and wider Leeds communities in Lincoln Green. Until further notice, sessions are held online via Zoom. We welcome all Leeds based women who would like to meet new people, get creative and have fun!
Cooking With Parveen Film Premiere 🎬
Throughout the summer we were working with Mafwa Members on Cooking With Parveen, and have already shared our podcast and recipe book with you. We have also created a short film in collaboration with Hope Strickland! We will be debuting the film as part of BISAN & Bradford Refugee Forum's Intercultured Festival on Friday 30th October. You can register for free to watch it when it is released.
